Breast cancer surgery: Reconstructive surgery:

Reconstructive surgery

You may have breast reconstruction surgery at the same time as your mastectomy or it can be postponed to a later date. Reconstruction surgery may involve use of implants or tissues from other parts of your body. If you are planning to do reconstructive surgery at the time of your   mastectomy it is important to make this decision in the early planning phase of breast surgery. It is also important to discuss this issue early with your surgeon so that a consultation with a plastic and reconstructive surgeon may be done prior to the breast cancer surgery.
